Now you can vote directly for your favourite Dance India Dance 3 (DID 3) contestants, chat with them, interact with Remo D’Souza, Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapoor, view Twitter messages and Facebook posts on one page and even make your friend dance to your tunes by turning his picture into an animated character on a social networking site with a first-of-its kind Wireless Appication Protocol (WAP) site and mobile application.

In a bid to keep the generation-next hooked, the app allows users to stay connected to the talent hunt contest in real time too. “With DID topping the list of non-fiction shows with a large youth connect, the idea is to reach out and engage the consumer on a mass scale and what better way than mobile handsets given how much time youngsters spend on them today,” reasons Akash Chawla, marketing head, Zee TV.

Today, one of Zee’s shows, Punar Vivah, is trying to up the interactivity quotient through the ‘give-a-missed-call’ gambit that worked big time for DID. “A missed call that’s for free has increased the number of votes from two-three lakh per week to 25-30 lakh, so much so that we’ve had to increase the capacity of our servers,” says Akash pointing out that the WAP site and app too has an in-built missed call function.
