Music composer Gaurav Dayal made news for his compositions with international musician Shakira. And closer home his work with singer Jasbir Jassi in dil le gayi and Mika in Gabru won applause. Now he is eyeing at cashing on fresh talent by producing a new reality show under his company Beatfactory Music.
“I really like what people like Quincy Jones (Producer of Micheal Jackson and Will Smith) have achieved. They started promoting artists and music at a street level. The music industry is suffering because nobody wants to help real talent get a break,” says Dayal who is all set to scout for unexplored talent. “In this show new talents get a break by singing original compositions. The crew of Beatfactory travels to their homes to record them,” he adds. On working with international artists, including Shakira, he said, “I mostly interacted with producer Jerry Wonda, who has co-produced many of Shakira’s songs. She used to come only for dubbings and listening. So the interaction was minimal.”
Dayal does have plans to compose for Bollywood too. “Setting up new avenues of music in India is my main goal but I will be getting back to doing film music soon,” he says.
