She’s television’s drama queen… and as she prepares for yet another innings with her upcoming show, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, she has already created another storm.
Sources close to the show told HT City that among the thousands who sent in their applications to be a suitor, one was a girl vying for the spot of Rakhi’s soulmate. Rakhi though, is not impressed. “Iss show mein sirf ladke hi hain… so, if a girl has applied, all I can say is, I’m sorry!”
That’s not all. Rakhi also has plenty of ‘advice’ to give any girl who has a crush on her. “Aisi kaafi ladkiyan hai jo mujhe like karti hain. Lekin mein unhe pyaar se samjhaati hoon ki ye sab wrong hai,” she says. “Unko bataana chahiye ki girls girls ke liye nahi hoti hain… this is all fake… yeh sab timepass ki cheezein hain. Girlfriend ban ne se bhi you can’t produce a child… you can’t do anything… God ne jo cheez banaaya hai, hum usse bigaadne ki koshish naa karein.”
She even has some names to drop: “Falguni Pathak dekho… she is female but is pretending to be a boy… inhe aaraam se sanjhaana chahiye ye galat hai.”
‘Actors bahut lafdebaaz hain’
At the moment, she’s spending “sleepless nights” preparing for the hunt for her ideal man. No actors need apply. “Mujhe actors se bahut nafrat hai… I can marry a producer, a director, even the ugliest man, but never an actor.” Why? “Ye bahut lafdebaaz hote hain.
"Ye ek biwi ke nahi hote. Maine aise logon ko dekha hai, mein naam nahi lena chahoungi… woh sab shaadi shuda hain lekin girlfriends bhi hain…mujhse bhi flirt karte hain.”
What the heck was that?
Rakhi’s statement has sparked outrage among gay rights activists. Shekhar, 22, says, “Her statement just goes to show how regressive the country has become. She has a habit of blabbering without thinking. That’s exactly what she has done again.” Vikram asks, “Why does anyone even take Rakhi seriously?”
