TV actor Hina Khan has been part of a hit TV show for seven years now. Even though she has kept a low profile all this while, her personal life has somehow always made news. Here, she sets the record straight about her relationship status, as she also talks about her plans to record a song.

You maintain a low profile in the real world, but you are quite active online. Why?

In the industry, there is a lot of showing off. I can’t be pretentious. I don’t socialise much, I agree. But being active on Twitter and interacting with my fans over the past six months has been great. They get to know the real Hina. But I don’t feel the need to share everything I do in life with others.

While you stay tight-lipped about your personal life, you recently posted a photograph of yourself with Jayant Jaiswal (supervising producer of her TV show), who you are reportedly dating.

I don’t talk about my personal life. The day I want to make something public, I will tell people whether I am dating someone, or if I am in love, or getting married. I won’t say I haven’t been in relationships, but I don’t want to talk about them. As for the photo, people have been talking about us for a while now. Someone recently told me that if we are best friends, we should not be scared of what people think. Our families know about us, so do our friends. So, I don’t care what people say. I will continue to post photos with him. There is nothing wrong in that. For the record, I am not dating anyone.

Who are your close friends in the industry?

I only have non-actor friends. But I do know Deepika (Singh), Devoleena (Bhattacharya) and Divyanka (Tripathi), and keep meeting them at house parties organised by common friends.

You seem to be enjoying singing on your show. Are there plans to take it further?

I have sung a bhajan and a lullaby, and people loved my voice. I am not a trained singer; this is God’s gift. I am busy with my work, and don’t want to divert my attention to other things. But I have some plans to record an independent song. It should happen soon. I can’t say more right now.
