When Comedy Nights with Kapil was shut down a few months ago, Upasana Singh, a recurrent actor on the show, decided to not leave Colors. She later joined Comedy Nights Live, a replacement show hosted by Krushna Abhishek on the same channel. However, she is now complaining about the working conditions of the show and has called it Comedy Nights ‘Dead’.
Not just her, other actors too have faced the trouble at the sets of their shows. Here are a few instances where popular actors and their producers did not really see eye to eye.
Mika Singh was appointed as a permanent ‘guest’ on Comedy Nights Live, much like the function that was performed by Navjot Singh Siddhu on Comedy Nights With Kapil and now also on The Kapil Sharma Show. However, he decided to appear as guest on rival show The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony and according to reports in online tabloid Tellychakkar, this pissed off the producers of Comedy Nights Live and they decided to replace him.
Angoori Bhabhi from the show Babhiji Ghar Pe Hain is the most recent example in this list. After a tiff with the show’s producer Binaifer Kohli, she alleged that the makers “mentally tortured” her and so she decided to not show up at work at all. This prompted the production house to send a legal notice to her.
The Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) also issued many warnings to her, asking her to join work as soon as possible but she didn’t comply.
The Jodha Akhbar actress too had to face trouble during her time on the TV soap’s sets. She had reportedly been harassed by show’s director Santram Verma.
“Verma had been sexually harassing Paridhi. Tired of this, she had even complained about this to the production team, but nobody could help her. Santram, is apparently very close to Balaji Productions and will hardly ever have to face the storm of the production team,” a source told Daily Bhaskar.
Ekta Kapoor, the producer of the show rubbished all the reports saying, “All these are just rumours and there is no truth to them. I request you to please not pay any heed to it. This is nothing more than rubbish. The fact is that there have been problems between Santram and Paridhi, but there’s no sexual context. Please stay away from such rumours. I haven’t got any complaints from Paridhi.”
Parth is best known for his role as Manik Malhotra in Vikas Gupta’s show Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan and had accused his show’s producer for not clearing his dues.
Parth told TOI, “Vikas hasn’t cleared my dues of Rs 5,50,000 for Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, a show that I did with him. In fact, he has been asking me to cough up a ransom of Rs 50,00,000. He has also threatened to ruin my career. I have also informed the cops about the same. I have nothing against him except for the fact that he hasn’t cleared my dues. We were good friends. He has also helped me in my career and I will be always thankful to him. But my hard work can’t be discounted.”
