Pushtiie Shakti, lead actor of Mahi Way, is one lucky girl. While most female actors are under constant pressure to look svelte, Shakti has been asked to stay overweight. The 30-year-old is under a three-year contract with the show’s producer, Yash Raj Films, to stay plump as the show’s second season is around the corner. “I have one more year to go,” she says.

“How many women would not want to be in my shoes? To not feel guilty for being overweight? And I am to be paid for it.” A source from the channel informs that unlike the last time when Mahi chose not to go with the guy she desired, this time there will be a love angle too. Shakti reveals that she has “never had an issue dating the hottest men” in real life.

Tired of being stereotyped as a fat girl in serials like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kkusum, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi and nine films, Pushtiie had given up acting for almost six years when she travelled extensively to Dharamsala, McLeod Ganj, Pune and Goa where she practiced various forms of healing including reiki, tarot, crystal healing, past life regression and aroma therapy.

“Had it not been for my mother who wanted me to give acting another chance, I would have been exploring the Himalayas today,” says Shakti.

The actor is also set to make her debut in films with Yash Raj’s untitled project starring Shraddha Kapoor. She says, “I play a sensible yet aggressive character.”
