Pass the presents
Star-struck fans bring gifts to the auditions of reality show Just Dance, ask co-judges Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant to give them to Hrithik Roshan.tv Updated: Apr 14, 2011 13:54 IST
When a fan gets a chance to come face-to-face with their idol, it’s natural for them to bring a special present along. And that’s precisely what happened at the Delhi and Kolkata auditions of Hrithik Roshan’s forthcoming TV reality show, Just Dance, when aspiring participants brought along gifts to give to their superhero.
Moreover, the fans weren’t deterred when they learnt that Hrithik wasn’t going to be present for the auditions. In fact, taking cue from the response, representatives of Star Plus, the channel broadcasting the dance show, encouraged the contestants to perform well so they could go into the next level and meet their idol.
However, those who couldn’t make it to the next level, handed their presents to the superstar’s co-judges, Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant. While they gladly took on the responsibility of carrying the fans’ gifts, they were in for a surprise at airport. The reason being that the gifts weighed a lot more than passengers are normally allowed on flights.
The channel’s spokesperson, Monica Shergil, confirmed the news saying, “Obviously, we had to get the presents to Hrithik, so the judges carried the gifts to hand over to him in Mumbai.” At the same time, she’s conceded that some of the presents the fans brought were “quite funny actually”. “One guy brought a jalebi made in the shape of Hrithik’s initials, HR. He said that his father had made it. Another fan got a pair of dancing shoes, and yet another sent a bunch of coconuts,” she recalls.
Interestingly, one admirer sent a box of the chocolate cream biscuits that the actor endorses. “It was packed in a big box. On opening the gift’s wrapping, there was another box inside and so on,” reveals Shergill. The other two judges too didn’t return empty-handed to Mumbai. Apart from Hrithik’s gifts, they too got a few presents, with a participant getting sandalwood Ganesh idols for both co-judges, Farah and Vaibhavi.
