Hiten Tejwani says he wants to do quality work, whether it is the lead or not.

Hiten Tejwani has been acting for 16 years now. He has played the lead role in several shows on the small screen, including Kutumb, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Pavitra Rishta.

Of late, the actor has transitioned into father-figure roles. However, he doesn’t mind it. “I have done all kinds of roles. When I get a role similar to the one’s I have played earlier, I try to do something different with the part. I have played the role of a father in shows earlier too, but my portrayal is different each time,” says Hiten.

He adds that “one should move on with time”. “Today, there are many actors who are sitting at home, as they want to play lead roles. They are happy not working, and waiting [for a better part]. But, that is not the case with me. I can’t sit idle, as I love to work. I want to do quality work, whether it is the lead or not,” says the actor.

Hitesh has no qualms with replacing actors when they have quit shows such Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Pavitra Rishta. He has also taken up cameos for three to four months in TV shows. He says, “It gives me the chance to play the roles I haven’t done before. If I can, I would like to do as many different roles in a year because then there is no stagnation.”

“That used to happen when I played one role in a serial for years. When a show goes on for years and is delivering ratings, you didn’t get the chance to take up other roles and shows,” he adds.

Need to go again soon 🙈 #throwback #vacationmode #missbeingonavacation #family

He feels that times have changed now. “The audience does not want to watch the same show for three years or more. Balika Vadhu ran for eight years but they had to end it finally. When I was doing the show last year, people were amazed that it was still on air. They asked me, ‘When will it end?’ I would simply reply saying that it’s my work and it will end when it has to.”
