Priyanka Chopra

is the last man (or woman) standing as terrorists wreck havoc on American soil. Now that should hurt because saving America is something of a life's work for Chopra's character, Alex Parrish, an

FBI recruit

in upcoming ABC Tv show Quantico. She is in a wham-bam-thank you relationship with a fellow FBI trainee, which may or may not go deeper. And he may, or may not be a part of the conspiracy to attack America. The terror attack is the most devastating since 9/11 and the stakes are sky high.

Now, where have we heard all of it before? In fact, take away Priyanka and add Claire Danes, replace CIA for FBI and you have got Homeland. Oh, you also need to add much, much more inspired acting.

Quantico, as the name suggests, is about a group of FBI trainees who are being put through the moves at the FBI Academy in Quantico. The training is relentless but Priyanka's Alex 'Protecting my country was always my dream' Parrish finds time to banter and spar with the said Mr Eye Candy. There is a token golden boy, token Taylor Swift lookalike, a token gay couple and a token hijab-wearing Middle Eastern recruit.

Then, the bad guys strike and it is all pinned on an insider. You are still wondering who the culprit is when the hatchet-faced trainer puts it all on our desi girl. Priyanka has already accepted that she's hiding some secrets, but something this huge?

The trailer's strengths are its storyline which promises action, dark secrets and a leading lady who knows the difference between love and sex. It is refreshing to see an Indian actor, a mainstream star no less, carry the entire series on her slender shoulders.

But Priyanka, THAT accent - it comes and it goes at will. Some of the dialogues are cringe-inducing as well. While discussing the said golden boy, Alex says, "It looks like our golden boy is gold plated." Huh?

The series stars Dougray Scott as Liam, Jake McLaughlin as Ryan, Aunjanue Ellis as Miranda, Yasmine Al Massri as Nimah, Johanna Braddy as Shelby, Tate Ellington as Simon and Graham Rogers as Caleb.

American TV is producing some of the best content seen in the recent times - a veritable golden age of TV if you please. Will Quantico manage to hold its own? That is something only time will tell. In the meanwhile, watch the trailer and let us know your feedback in comments section below.
