Popular rapper Raftaar wants to be known for more than his rapping skills. The Dhup Chik hitmaker, who will be participating in an upcoming dance reality show, wants his fans to know him for his dancing skills too.
The 26-year-old says that he wants the country to know him as a complete performer. “I want to be more than just a rapper. I want to be like Chris Brown meets Jay Z kind of performer,” he says, adding, “You know, Chris is like the complete performer on stage, he is a singer, a dancer, a complete powerhouse on stage. And then, Jay Z is not just a popular musician; he is also a lyrical genius, a business mogul. He knows how to be classy. And I want to be a mix of both.”
India is still not open to the idea of singer-dancer according to the Kerala born rapper. Raftaar hopes that he will open the gates for other upcoming singer-dancers.
“India is still not open to the idea of a rapper or singer who can also dance. My act will broaden the spectrum and hopefully pave the way for similar artists,” he says.
“These days almost everybody is multi-talented. You won’t be able to make a name if you are good in just one field and with everything turning digital, it is important to continuously improve your skill set,” he signs off.
