The 49-year-old, who has done well on Indian TV as well as in films, confirms that he was approached for a role in Homeland. “It was an interesting role, but I couldn’t accept the offer as it would require me to shoot in South Africa for six months. It wouldn’t have been possible for me to leave things here to take it up,” he says.

Ronit reveals that when the offer came to him a few months ago, he was shooting for a film co-starring Arshad Warsi, an ongoing legal drama show, and had a new show produced by Ekta Kapoor in the pipeline. “Leaving work and family for such a long stint would have been impossible for me,” he adds. Other Indians who feature on the Emmy-winning show are Nimrat Kaur and Suraj Sharma.
