He has made a mark as a designer, and now, Sabyasachi Mukherjee is all set to create ripples on the tube as a TV host.

The designer will anchor the second season of NDTV Good Times’ Band Baajaa Bride (BBB), which will witness 13 lucky brides getting a makeover by him. The show goes on air from February 10.

“It’s very exciting to be part of a show where I dress up brides from all over India, from different communities, religions and economic backgrounds. It is my first full-fledged television show,” says Sabyasachi.

The designer admits that it was the prospect of working with real women that appealed to him, saying, “BBB is about people who want to be fashionable but probably don’t get the chance,” adding, “We end up interacting mostly with models, actors and elite clients, but never the common person who aspires to wear our creations. The show was a reality check and a humbling experience.”

Talking about his experience while on the show, he says, “I went to their homes, ate with them, interacted with their families.”

Though Sabya’s good friend Vidya Balan appears in the promos of the show, she will not appear on it. Commenting on his

contribution towards catapulting her to become a style diva, he says, “Vidya is close to my heart and I would like to conserve her look because she is a real girl and very non-Bollywood in her approach towards life.”
