With the much talked about leap in Ekta Kapoor’s Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (BALH) round the corner, TV host Samir Kochhar has been signed to play the role of business tycoon Rajat Kapoor. Rajat’s entry will lead to a love triangle between the lead pair Ram (Ram Kapoor) and Priya (Sakshi Tanwar).
The show will take a five year leap where Priya, rechristened as Parineeti, is living in Dubai and will enter Rajat’s life. Later, even Ram will settle in Dubai. The unit leaves for Dubai in a week’s time for a shoot of 10 days. Regularly seen on TV as the IPL host, this is Samir’s first stint in a TV show.
“I am done with the non-fiction space and am focusing on acting. Balaji is a big production house and I am glad to be on the show,” says an excited Samir.
The actor will also play a pivotal role in Ekta’s sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, directed by Milan Luthria.
“I am an ardent admirer of Ekta’s work and love her style of directing movies and TV shows. I knew that whenever I would take up a fictional serial, it would be hers,” adds Samir.
Samir is amazed by the popularity of BALH, he says, “I usually don’t like soap shows, but I know BALH has a huge fan following. My grandmother loves the serial and she still can’t believe I’m going to be part of it. Coming on board as a pivotal character is exciting, though I am a little anxious as it is new territory for me,” he says.
