Shatrughan Sinha will soon be making his second appearance on TV. The actor-politician was in the city on Tuesday for the dry run and rehearsal of his version of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The show is being produced for the Mahua Bhojpuri channel.
Sinha has stepped into colleague Amitabh Bachchan’s shoes to promote Bhojpuri, a language spoken in parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Yubaraj Bhattacharya from the channel Mahua confirms the news: “Shatruji has been rehearsing for the show. He is putting his heart and soul into it. He was our first and ultimate choice for the host.”
Sinha has, in the past, judged a season of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge onStar One, and appeared as a guest contestant on 10 Ka Dum on Sony Entertainment.
However, this show of his will go on air on the channel from May 30, months before Amitabh Bachchan takes charge of the Hindi version on Sony Entertainment.
Buzz is that the latter goes on air closer to the superstar host’s birthday in October. The channel is currently researching the various versions of the original, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, to upgrade the fifth edition of the Hindi show.
Bachchan has signed a multiple season deal with Kaun Banega Crorepati, and the season that finished in Decemeber last year was the first of the three he will be seen in.
Like his yesteryear colleague, has Shatrughan Sinha, too, been signed on for another season? “Yes,” says Bhattacharya. “He will be an amazing host, because of his command over the language. The audience is familiar with the format and he has a superb fan following too. We’re quite sure the show’s first season will do well.”
