Tonight is the night we have all waited for so long (730 days, yes we counted). Sherlock is finally coming back to our TV screens after two very, very long years and the fans are happy as they can be.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be returning as our favourite high-functioning sociopath, Sherlock Holmes, and his BFF, Dr John Watson for the New Year’s special episode. Yes readers, they are coming back for only one episode and not for the three-episode series we all love so dearly.
The episode has been named ‘The Abominable Bride’ where the sleuths will be seen trying to uncover the mystery surrounding a woman’s ghost. Everything will be the same, friendship, insults, crime and a lot of running... except... in 1895!
BBC is taking Sherlock back to era Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first imagined Sherlock in. Modern London with it’s tall buildings and black cabs will be replaced by a 19th century London with horse-driven carriages and top hats.
Will everything else be the same? Lestrade, Mary, Mrs Hudson, Molly and Anderson? Will he be as daft as ever? If he is, we are sure Sherlock will let him know of his cerebral capacity often enough. Until then, here are the top five biggest burns given by Sherlock on the poor guy:
1. Anderson, don’t talk out loud. You lower the IQ of the whole street
2. *Shuts door in his face*
3. Anderson, turn around, your face is putting me off
4. Brilliant Anderson. Brilliant impression of an idiot
5. I am not a pyschopath Anderson, I am a high-functioning sociopath. Do your research
You do you, Sherlock!
