The new year is definitely not starting on the right note for TV actor Smita Bansal: Her sister-in-law, Megha Gupta, has reportedly filed a harassment case against her and also accused her stealing jewellery and money worth Rs 50 lakh. The actor, however, feels that she is being dragged into the matter unnecessarily.
A case has been filed under section 498(A) at the Mahila Thana in Gurgaon, accusing Smita of stealing jewellery and money.
“I don’t know what to say, as I haven’t even got a copy of the FIR. I learnt about the accusation only from the media. Once I get the FIR, I will check the charges against me and I will deal with it accordingly. I don’t know why I am being dragged into this,” says the actor who has worked in shows such as Amanat and Aashirwad. Smita’s brother, Saurabh Bansal, got married to Megha in 2009 and the couple shifted to London, UK. However, Megha returned to Gurgaon, earlier this year after a fallout with her husband.
Talking about her relationship with Megha, Smita says, “I haven’t even spent enough time with her, as my brother stays in London and we only meet once in a year or two. Whenever she would come to India, she would go to her mother’s house in Gurgaon.”
