Crossing 1,000 episodes is a huge feat for any TV show. And with Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah set to cross the milestone on November 6, the cast and crew of the hit comedy has lots to smile about.Lead actor Dilip Joshi, who has been playing the role of Jethalal for over four years now, feels it's the show's simplicity that strikes a chord.
"No other comedy show appeals to the masses as well as the classes. Nobody on our show is anyone's enemy or plotting to kill someone. There are no businesses worth crores or characters in Armani suits. Its innocence clicks with the audience. They don't come across as 'acted roles'," he says, adding, "I have met people who feel these characters are as relatable as their own neighbours. We work hard to make each episode our best."
The show has also become a popular choice for filmmakers to promote their new releases, which makes Joshi happy. "It is pure business sense to promote a film on our show, as we have audiences from every strata of society around the world. When popular stars come, we welcome them like a family. Ajay Devgn enjoyed being on our show for Golmaal 3 and Bol Bachchan so much that he said he'd promote his next film with us too."
