Memoirs of a bald man
* Bajaj Allianz ad
He’s bald, he’s topless and he’s screaming. Before you can say, “
Kalpana was killed..” however, the scrawny Aamir Khan-look-alike has already yelled to himself, done a couple of push-ups, and run (and tripped off) a treadmill before examining himself in a mirror. ‘Remember to save tax’ says the tattoo on his chest. Hilarious! But the silly animated taxman in the final shot kills the ad.
Remember to record
* Tata Sky ad
A dining table scene. Aamir Khan (the real one) imparts gyaan on ‘how to be a good husband’ to a shell-shocked Sumeet Raghavan. In the other end of the room, Gul Panag watches a saas-bahu soap. She explains to the camera that the TV records his match for later. These two make such a convincing couple, they had better do a movie now.. with another chest tattoo which says ‘Watch TV’.
* Airtel Caller Tunes ad
They’ve started to grate on my nerves now. Saif Ali Khan is busy playing a video game when
girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, (her face looks strangely stiff.. botoxed even), demands that he set a caller tune on her phone.
Which he does in a matter of seconds. Please! Can’t she do it herself? The other voicemail ad was much, much better..
* Pioneer ad
Discotheque with booming music.. very Kismat Connectionish. Suddenly, a car pulls in right into the club.
Shahid Kapur steps out and a track begins to play on his car deck. Kapur begins to swing, sway and everyone joins in. He doesn’t even give the final punchline. And straightened hair.. is that the new look he’s hiding? Big deal!
* BSNL ad
Deepika Padukone models in the north-east and connects an old aunty to her son in Mumbai on her phone. Cut to a hamlet in Rajasthan. Padukone is now a social worker who delivers a baby with instructions from a doctor via webcam. Next, she’s a dancer performing on a houseboat in the backwaters of Kerala. When does she get time to spy on her boyfriend and his ‘My cola can’ escapades??
