Highlight Story

Set against the backdrop of the film industry, upcoming telly show Madhubala ... Ek Ishq, Ek Junoon has been in news ever since the promos went on air. Reason: It is believed to be based on the life of legendary actor Madhubala and her alleged romance with veteran actor Dilip Kumar — a subject that has miffed Madhubala’s sister, Zahida. But the show’s lead actors — Drashti Dhami and Vivian Dsena — say the plot has been misunderstood.

“Our show is not based on life of veteran actor Madhubala and has nothing to do with her. Once you will see the show, you will realise it yourself,” says Dhami.

To this, Dsena says, “Our show is actually a tribute to the 100 years of Indian cinema. It will give audiences a glimpse into different sides of the lives of Bollywood stars — their challenges, hardships and also the struggles of everyone including technicians and junior artists who’re involved in the making of a megastar.

Talking about their characters in the show, which is reportedly the first Hindi show to be shot at Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City, Dhami says, “I am very excited to play Madhubala. It is a multi-layerd character.” Vivian, who plays superstar RK says, “RK is a star kid who is extremely successful.”
