British actor Jude Law stars as the fictional Pius XIII, the first American pope, in an upcoming miniseries for HBO. The first official trailer for the show was released on Monday, December 5.
Jude Law plays the controversial main role of America’s first (fictional) pope. HBO has already released a couple of short teasers but this latest video contains the official TV series trailer, showing Law as an unconventional - and not necessarily recommendable - Pope. The Young Pope also stars Oscar-winner Diane Keaton as a nun skeptical of Law as head of the Catholic Church.
The Young Pope, directed by Paolo Sorrentino (of the Academy-Award-Winning The Great Beauty), premieres January 15, 2017, on HBO.
