Roughly three months ago, Giaa Manek quit the Star Plus serial, Saath Nibhana Saathiya (SNB), to feature on the Colors dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa(JDJ). Around that time, reports insinuated that the actor was offered a hefty amount by the channel — apparently Rs 1 crore — to make the shift. That’s not all. Rumours also claimed that post the show, Giaa would be paid a monthly sum of Rs 10 lakh till she signed a new project.

But the actor, who was recently eliminated from the talent hunt, laughs off the news. “I wish! It’s too good to be true and none of it really is. Why would they pay me such a huge sum, when in that amount they could have roped in a Bollywood star?”

Subsequently, various reports about Giaa having severed ties with Star Plus over her decision to join JDJ also surfaced. It was believed that Colors was going to offer her a show in the future.

However, Giaa who has recently signed Sab TV’s Jeannie Aur Juju, denies it all.“That was never the case. These are all rumours. I did not have to quit SNB for JDJ,” she says, before adding, “I had become popular within six months of the show having gone on air. And as a result, I was offered many other shows; people even offered me money to quit, but I didn’t accept anything. Had I been greedy, I could have, but I did not want to.”

Sab TV has bought the rights to the ’80s American show, I Dream Of Jeannie. A dubbed version of the show had previously aired on Indian television back in the ’90s. However, the actual adaptation is now under production. Giaa will be playing the lead role of Jeannie. “I am just thankful that I have received the best of everything,” says Giaa.
