This new tele contest takes the concept of a talent hunt to the next level. Hindi lifestyle channel UTV Stars plans to find an official face for their brand through a TV show, The Chosen One.
To be launched on 13 May, the project will feature 10 contestants who will be chosen from auditions conducted in Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. They will be asked to perform a series of tasks from walking the ramp to shooting ad promos, and be judged by a changing panel of three celebrity guests from the worlds of Bollywood and fashion.
Shifa Maitra, VP, programming, UTV Stars, says, “Contestants will be tested on their ability to handle anything in Bollywood. They must do their research and know enough about the star judges so that they can surprise them.”
She adds, “The channel’s motto is to bring die hard Bollywood fans closer to stars. On The Chosen One, apart from getting a chance to become the face of a channel, contestants will also get to rub shoulders with actors and directors.”
The winner of the contest will be associated with the channel for a year, anchoring shows, and featuring in all their activities.
Shamoly Khera, who used to host the popular series Live My Life, will return to anchor this show. Despite promos that state the contest is only for women between the ages of 18 to 25, the channel reveals that they’ve received entries from mature women with kids, and even men from Argentina and Spain. “But we are only looking for girls with glamorous faces, who are bold and confident,” insists Shifa.
