Leaps in tele dramas often make the original actor walk out of the show; we look at some of the popular faces who left their shows midway as they didn’t want to play aged characters at a young age.

Vivian Dsena

Vivian’s aka RK’s was one of the most talked-about exits of recent times. The 25-year-old quit Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon when he was expected to play a dad of an 18-year-old daughter after a leap. A new lead - Gunjan Utreja - was brought in but within two months, dipping TRPs forced the makers to bring back Vivian as a different character.

Hunar hali

Come next week, Nandini, Hunar Hali’s character in Ek Boond Ishq will be seen ‘logically concluding’. However, sources say that the show’s lead, actor Chhavi Pandey aka Tara threatened to quit if she’d to play mum after a five-year leap. That’s when the makers changed the plot to retain Chhavi and let go of Hunar’s character.

Cezanne Khan

Cezanne Khan aka Anurag Basu was one of the most popular characters from the hit show Kasauti Zindagi Kay. While he withstood the first 20-year leap, he finally quit after the second leap when, at the age of 30, he was expected to play a grandfather.

Amar Upadhyay

Ekta Kapoor’s family saga Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was the first TV show to take a 20-year leap, and that’s when it’s lead actor, Amar Upadhyay aka Mihir Virani walked out, refusing to play daddy to teenaged kids.

Smita Singh

Apart from the whole fiasco over some alleged pending payments, it was the way her character — Sunaina Bhabhi — was shaping up in Hitler Didi after the leap that forced actor Smita Singh to put in her papers.

Eva Grover

In her 30s, actor Eva Grover played Ram Kapoor’s mum Niharika in Bade Acche Lagte Hain. However, when the show took a five-year leap, Grover quit as she was not comfortable with playing a grandmom.

Nausheen Sardar Ali

Nausheen Sardar Ali put up the ideal middle class girl act in the hit show Kkusum. And then the show took the 18-year leap. Nausheen, just 23 then, quit soon after as she didn’t want to play a mom so early in her career.

Sushant Singh Rajput

We all know why the adorable Manav aka Sushant Singh Rajput quit Pavitra Rishta. Obviously, playing a lead in a Bollywood film (that became a hit) was a more lucrative deal than playing dad to a teenage daughter on TV. Ankita, too, had problems flaunting grey hair, and so she threatened to quit. The storyline was tweaked and now she plays her own grand daughter.

Kapil Nirmal

Kapil aka Nihaal of Veera bid farewell to the show when it took an 18-year leap as he didn’t want to play an aged character. However, now the makers are trying to get Nirmal back on the show with a new twist.

Raqesh Vashisth

Raqesh Vashisth replaced Karan Singh Grover in Qubool Hai but quit within three months when the show took a leap of 20 years. The 35-year-old didn’t want to play a dad to a teenanged daughter.

Rashami desai & Nandish Sandhu

Actor couple Rashami Desai and Nandish Sandhu alias Tapasya and Veer of Uttaran, both decided to leave the show after it took an 18-year leap. While Nandish was reportedly bored of playing the same character for years, Rashami didn’t want to play mom to someone, who’s almost her age. Few months later however, Rashami was back on the show with a positive character.
