Harman Baweja was recently approached for a television show.

Harman Baweja, whose films such as Love Story 2050 (2008), Victory (2009), What’s Your Raashee? (2009) and Dishkiyaaoon (2014) failed to create any buzz at the box office, was recently approached for a television show.

A source close to the show’s production team, says, “The makers wanted a macho-looking man for the role. With so many popular film stars acting on the tube, TV producers are always on the lookout for actors wanting to make their television debut. Harman seemed like a good bet, but apparently things didn’t work out.”

The makers then zeroed in on Sharad Kelkar. A popular face on the small screen, he has played a variety of characters in serials like Saat Phere — Saloni Ka Safar, Bairi Piya, Sindoor Tere Naam Ka, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge, and even hosted a crime show, Shaitaan.

Of late, he has been seen in movies like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and the Marathi film, Lai Bhaari (2014). He also has a prominent role in the upcoming film, Hero. “Sharad fits the bill, and has had some meetings with the production house. However, his film commitments are keeping him busy, and he is finding it tough to give the needed dates,” adds the source.

The channel and makers apparently want the detective-spy show to be a thriller-drama with finite episodes, and it will probably run on weekends. When contacted, Harman says, “There is absolutely nothing on that front. I’m working on a film as of now.” Sharad remained unavailable for comment.
