Winona Ryder led an eclectic cast for the eight-episode July 2016 show, which followed the search for a young boy following his mysterious disappearance.

Set in the 1980s and written by Matt and Ross Duffer of Wayward Pines and Hidden, season one was executive produced and partly directed by Shawn Levy of the Night at the Museum Trilogy.
It channelled some of the motifs made famous by writers and directors of the time, including Stephen King, Steven Spielberg, and John Carpenter.
The Duffer brothers return, as does Shawn Levy in a production capacity, while Variety indicates that the second season will run for 8 episodes.
