Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 on Colors is readying to take off in Cape Town, South Africa, with Akshay Kumar returning as host after a season’s break. And the actor is apparently already in talks with a rival channel, Star Plus, for the second season of the show, MasterChef India, the shoot for which is expected to start towards the last quarter of the year. It is due to go on air in December.
Akshay confirms the news, but refuses to divulge details. "I’d love to return to MasterChef because like action, cooking is part of my everyday life. I love it and that’s why I can identify with the show," he reasons.
Monika Shergill, senior creative director, Star Plus, too, admits that they are working on MasterChef Season Two: "The show’s success in the weekend slot, which is usually occupied by movies and dance-music reality shows, proved that the audience is ready for something different. They loved the concept. MasterChef has set a high benchmark for us and next season it will only get bigger and better."
Will the show return with Akshay among the pots and pans this year again?
"It’s early to comment on Akshay’s presence, but full credit to him for establishing such a wonderful connect between the show and the audience," adds Monika.
"It will be a pleasure to have him back as the anchor. For now, all I can say is that MasterChef 2 will be back soon, but for details you’ll have to wait for the official announcement."
