Turns out that Dhruv Bhandari in Rakt Sambandh who is married to a blind girl, played by Sriti Jha, is a closet eunuch in the Hindi version of the popular South soap.
“The role offers a lot of scope for acting. I may look like a chocolate boy but I didn’t want to debut as one,” reasons Bhandari, whose father, actor Mohan Bhandari, is enacting the same role in reel life too.
“Dad is my mentor and encouraged me to take up the assignment. He’s happy that I’m not playing second fiddle to a strong female lead in a daily soap,” he says.
The story revolves around the blind Sandhya whose father is murdered on her wedding day. And her rich, good-looking husband turns out to be a eunuch. “He hides the fact from his wife because he fears she’ll walk out once she learns his secret,” says Bhandari, who doesn’t expect an outlash from social prudes. “Hey, it’s just a fictitious character. If married men can hide their affairs from the wives, why can’t Yuvraj do it? At least he has a genuine reason.”
