Gurmeet Choudhary, who recently lost the winner’s trophy on

Nach Baliye 6

(NB), has flown to South Africa to be part of yet another reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi 5 (KKK). Excited about this new opportunity and thrilled about doing the stunts on the show, Gurmeet chats with us about his plans in the next couple of months.

You were touted to win NB. Are you disappointed that you didn’t?

It was our dream to be part of NB and our performances will be talked about for a long time. They’ll be a reference point for coming seasons. We killed it. That’s our reward. I didn’t get as many calls and messages after winning Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (JDJ) 5, as I did after losing NB — that says it all. Fans cried, but I didn’t as I wanted to be strong. I’ve moved on.

Now you’re jumping into yet another reality show. Why?

Debina (his wife) and I love action, so we couldn’t turn down KKK. We love adventure sports and usually, we’ve to pay to enjoy them. But on the show, we’ll be paid to do them (laughs). I’ve done JDJ,

and now I will be part of KKK. I want to do everything, before quitting TV — barring Bigg Boss, which I don’t think I can handle.

Was money also a factor?

Not really; that is secondary. Through reality shows, people get to know the real you, which is a greater joy for me. Fans have told me that they love me in various characters, but they loved me more as myself on these shows.

You are very busy with these shows. Are you quitting daily soaps then?

That’s a difficult question. A big reason for me to do reality TV is to entertain my fans and show them my true self.

Are you inclined towards Hindi films?

When I do a film, I'll either play the lead or a very important character. I get offers, but they have to be exciting. I’m doing well on TV, so for me to make that switch, the role has to be worthwhile.

A report claimed that you are doing a serial with Barun Sobti?

That’s not true. People are taking my name, perhaps, for publicity sake.
