Things aren’t going that great on the personal front for TV actor Gunjan Utreja.
The 28-year-old is currently in the midst of a legal battle with his wife Pallavi, who is reportedly claiming a large amount as maintenance from him.
The actor, who has remained mum on the issue so far, has now opened up for the first time after he was photographed outside the family court in Bandra last week.
"In today’s world, you will be behind bars if you tease a woman… no one is foolish enough to beat up his wife. How come no legal action has been taken against me if I had physically abused her (Pallavi) (sic)?" questions Gunjan, while talking about his wife’s allegations of being "physically hurt" by him.
Clueless about her motive, but not willing to divulge much, Gunjan adds, "I am a man of integrity, and my friends and family know the truth. That’s all that matters to me. I have legal proof against her. Let her prove her accusations, and let the court decide. I have faith in our legal system."
The actor further reveals that Pallavi and her family had apparently approached a few publications [to write their side of the story] two years ago, but since they didn’t have proof against him, nobody entertained them.
"Now, just because I’ve made a small name [for myself], they are trying to defame me and extort a handsome amount of money. In fact, she had threatened to slap a huge maintenance case against me two years ago. But I will not bow down and give up. I will fight for what is right," he says.
Our repeated efforts to reach Pallavi failed.
