Filmmaker and TV show host Karan Johar has decided that he will provide the first Bollywood platform to the winner of Sony Entertainment’s X-Factor Season One. The producer-director recently visited the sets of the show at Goregaon’s Film City, where he buried the hatchet with the show’s judge-mentor Sanjay Leela Bhansali by giving him a warm hug. He shot a special episode as a guest judge that’s yet to be telecast on the channel with the other judges — singers Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Niigaam.
Settling matters While watching the performances, Karan apparently announced that he was extremely impressed with the quality of the contestants, and would like the winner from the Top 12 to sing and act in a special music video for Student Of The Year. Our source from the sets of the show reveals that this was Karan’s way of mending matters and clearing the issues with Sanjay, that came out in the open about a month ago.
In a tell-all interview, Sanjay had lashed out against some remarks made on Karan’s chat show, Koffee With Karan by the host and his protégé Sonam Kapoor. After that, Karan had gone on record to say that the Saawariya director and he weren’t friends anymore. But the two were visibly cordial on the sets of X-Factor. It’s also said that Karan, who has supposedly shot a special episode on Hrithik Roshan’s dance reality show, Just Dance on Star Plus, has decided to use top dancers from that show for the aforementioned music video along with the cast of the desi high school musical.
Despite messages and phone calls, Karan remained unavailable for comment. However, when asked, Danish Khan, head of marketing, Sony Entertainment, confirms the news, “Yes, he has been very kind to promise the contestants and us that the winner will get a chance in one of his upcoming productions. However, he hasn’t mentioned a name as yet, but we’re extremely happy about the development.”
