The values and cultures shared between India and its neighbour are seamless, and a new TV show hopes to make the bonds stronger. Zee’s new entertainment channel Zindagi, which goes on air from June 23, will feature shows that have serials such as Zindagi Gulzar Hai, from across the border.
The show features actor Fawad Khan, who is also set to make his Bollywood debut opposite Sonam Kapoor. Fawad will star alongside Sanam Saeed, who is a British-Pakistani actor and model.
The story of Zindagi Gulzar Hai revolves around Zaroon Junaid (Fawad), who is blessed with good looks and money to match and Kashaf Murtaza (Sanam), a strong woman from a lower middle-class background. “The show will start on 23rd June 8pm onwards,” says Shailja Kejriwal, chief creative — special projects.
With this show, cross-border serials that provide a slice of daily life from across the border, seem to have made a comeback after these shows unfortunately went missing from TV over the last decade.
Like Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Aunn Zara is another show which is set to entertain the TV audiences in India. Osman Khalid Butt, a popular actor-director, writer and theatre artist who became famous through his comedy video blogs on YouTube, will be seen playing the character of Aunn. Sources reveal that he plays a pampered son in an all-women household. He is the apple of his family’s eye and behaves like a spoilt kid, who, however, doesn’t like the fact that the women in his family don’t let him live his life his way.
The show will also see popular Pakistani model, VJ and actor Maya Ali playing the lead, Zara, who has been raised in a disciplined environment in an all-men household. That’s what makes her grow up into a tomboy rather than someone lady-like. Zara eventually gets married to Aunn.
“Incredible talent like Fawad, Sanam, Maya and Osman Ali are a part of shows like Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Aunn Zara. These powerhouses of talent will be refreshing new faces on television and are sure to steal your hearts with their natural and mature performances,” says Shailja Kejriwal, chief creative — special projects.
Watch Aunn and Zara’s life unfold on Aunn Zara, starting June 23, 8.55pm onwards on Zindagi.
