Euro 2016: Luka Modric scores as Croatia beat Turkey 1-0

Croatia and Turkey kick-off Sunday’s matches in Paris by resuming their rivalry, eight years after the Turks won their Euro 2008 quarter-final meeting on penalties.

Luka Modric scored the all important goal as Croatia started their Euro 2016 campaign with a nervy 1-0 win over Turkey on Sunday.

Croatia and Turkey kick-off Sunday’s matches in Paris by resuming their rivalry, eight years after the Turks won their Euro 2008 quarter-final meeting on penalties.

Cenk Tosun is a surprise starter for Turkey at the expense of Burak Yilmaz. On the other hand, centre back Vedran Corluka starts for Croatia after shaking off an ankle injury, while Marcelo Brozovic is preferred to Marko Pjaca.

Turkey XI: Babacan, Gonul, Topal, Balta, Erkin, Tufan, Inan, Ozyakup, Calhanoglu, Turan (c),Tosun
