The Pleasure Principle; the Amaryllis Book of Erotic Stories is an interesting anthology given the contemporary Indian’s squeamishness about talking, let alone writing, about sex. Some of these stories are humorous while others are dead serious. All of them are thought-provoking. The collection, which includes stories by Amitava Kumar, Cyrus Mistry, Kankana Basu and Taslima Nasrin, among others, looks at humans at their most unguarded moments, and leaves you thinking about a lot of things, not just sex... as erotica must.
Watch the editor of the volume G Sampath and one of the contributors, Vikram Kapur, talk about the power of the erotic impulse and listen to them reading excerpts from the book.
