Homeless & clueless under Prime Minister Housing For All Scheme

A 70-year-old Kalabai Sehariya, a resident of Kalara village in Berasiya block, demolished her kuccha house of a room partially and started construction. Because she was told that she will be getting allowance to construct a pucca house under Prime Minister Housing For All Scheme. She is a widow and lives with a mentally ill son. Recently, the Sarpanch informed her that she is no longer a beneficiary and has to return Rs 80,000 since she is one of the owners of a 3 acre irrigated land with a well. Wiping tears from her cheeks, Kalabai said, “After division of the land, I will get 0.75 acre land. I don't have anything but the administration feels that I am not poor. How will I prove my poverty?” She is not the only one. There are many others like her who were randomly chosen as beneficiaries and then labeled ineligible after the exclusion clause was read and applied. But till then a lot of damage had happened.
