#LetsTalkAboutHate: Dalits of Mirchpur, Haryana continue to battle caste
In April 2010, 18 Dalit homes were burnt down, allegedly, by the members of the Jat community after an altercation over a barking dog. Two Dalits were burnt alive. Many Dalit families had to flee the village. There have been convictions and three accused have been sentenced to life. That incident has deepened the caste divide in the village. Earlier this year, 17-year-old Shiv, was beaten by Jat boys of the villages after he won a race. Why? Because he is Dalit. This report is part of our series #LetsTalkAboutHate
