Watch | Manipur’s Simmering Land Crisis

It's been over 150 days since nine people were killed in protests that gripped the town of Churachandpur, around 200 kilometers south of Manipur's capital Imphal. The nine bodies continue to lie in the district morgue. Tribals in Manipur's hill areas refuse to bury them until their demands are met. The nine were killed in police firing between August 31 and September 1 last year, during street agitations. They were protesting against three Bills approved by the Manipur assembly, which they claim will deprive tribals of their land rights. Protesters took to the streets – and Churachandpur formed the epicenter of the agitation.
