Yes, we love it when everything around us is fresh, rain-kissed and squeaky clean. Sadly, that’s not the case with our skin during the rainy season. Monsoon can make your skin sticky, oily and pimple prone. But that doesn’t mean that you need to rush to the parlour or spend big bucks on expensive potions. Here are natural ways to brighten your skin during monsoon.

1 Fruity face pack
You can make fresh fruit packs to prep up your skin. Mash half a banana, add a tablespoon of fresh orange juice, half tablespoon sandalwood powder and one tablespoon of honey. Mix well, turn it into a smooth paste and apply to your face, avoiding the area around your eyes. Leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse off. It will leave your skin fresh and glowing.
2 Natural clean-up
Grate half a cucumber and mix it into fresh curd. Apply the mix on your face and leave for 10 minutes. It will help clean up your face, minimise pores and tone up your skin.
3 Skin cooling
Mix one tablespoon Fuller’s Earth with rose water. Apply on the face and wash it off after 15 to 20 minutes. It has a cooling effect and reduces oiliness.
Beauty expert Shahnaz Hussain suggests applying a mix of cucumber and papaya pulp with one teaspoon each of yoghurt and honey, three teaspoons oatmeal and one teaspoon lemon juice for cleansing and skin lightning.
5 Clearer complexion
Mix a few spoons of pigeon peas (toor daal) with water and using a blender, make a paste. Add half nutmeg (jaiphal) with 2 tbsp milk and apply it on the face. Wash it after 20 minutes for a clearer complexion, says beauty expert Kanchan Mehra.
6 Deep cleansing
Deep pore cleansing with a facial scrub is essential during monsoon to keep the pores free of hardened oil. It can be made by mixing ground almonds with curd and dry and powdered lemon or orange peels.
