Research conducted at the Berlin School of Public Health, Charité University Medical Center Berlin, found that overweight adults who drank two cups of water before eating wound up losing around four pounds, or 1.82 kilos, more than those who didn't.

The study was an analysis of 11 original studies and two systematic reviews on water and weight loss.

WaterAs to why it works, the results aren't conclusive but the researchers theorize that water simply makes you feel full, and therefore you eat less. Either way, drinking more H2O certainly isn't bad for your health, and replacing caloric coffee drinks, sodas, and juices with water can help cut empty calories.

The study, announced Sunday, is published online in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
