Clark's latest work, part of Venice Days, will premiere on August 31 in the festival, which runs from August 27 to September 6.

Written by Clark and Mathieu Landais during the helmer's new life in Paris, The Smell of Us will star Michael Pitt, Alex Martin and Niseem Theillaud. It is the first film he has made outside the US.

The story centres on a group of self-destructive skateboarders in the French capital. The children meet every day at the Dome behind Paris' Museum of Modern Art and in front of the Eiffel Tower. They skate, play and even have sex. Some of them come from dysfunctional families, and a sense of ennui, the allure of easy money and the anonymity of internet have a hand in smashing their universe.
