Venice Days will open with the legendary South Korean director, Kim Ki-Duk’s, One on One.

Venice Days is part of the Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 27 to September 6 on the island of Lido, off mainland Venice. This sidebar is promoted by two Italian moviemakers’ associations, ANAC and 100 Autori.

One on One is Kim’s 20th work, and his last creation, Moebius, turned out to be one of the most controversial premieres of the 2013 Festival.

Already dubbed a "trauma film" due to its violent imagery and its "down and dirty" feel, One on One has a storyline steeped in mystery: a female student is kidnapped, raped and killed. Seven members of the Shadows Sect stalk the seven people suspected of committing the crime, eventually hunting down the killer.

"We are very honoured that Kim Ki-duk and his producers have chosen our showcase," declared Venice Days chief Giorgio Gosetti.

“His movies, as extreme as they get, nicely represent the spirit of our section, which rewards courage and creativity”.
