A Saudi newspaper says the Afghan wife of an al-Qaida leader killed in a drone strike in Pakistan two weeks ago is seeking to send their children to his family in Saudi Arabia.
The London-based Al-Hayat says in a report from Riyadh that the wife of Osama al-Shihri contacted his family
in the kingdom to inform them of his wish that the three children be raised by his mother.

US officials described al-Shihri, also known as Abu Hafs al-Shahri, as al-Qaida's chief of operations in Pakistan. He was No. 11 on Saudi Arabia's list of 85 most wanted terror suspects.

Al-Qaida has not confirmed the death of al-Shihri or that of al-Qaida's second in command, Atiyah Abd al-Rahman, who was killed by a CIA drone strike in August.
