Turnout in Libya's first free national election in decades after the ouster of dictator Moammar Gadhafi was 60 %, the electoral commission has said, quoting preliminary figures.   "We are continuing to receive reports (from polling stations), but the number of voters has
reached 1.6 million, 60 % of voters," the head of the commission, Nuri al-Abbar, told reporters on Saturday.

Abar said that "despite a day of crisis management" only 24 out of 1,554 polling stations had been unable to open their doors due to acts of sabotage, notably in the restive east of the country.

Earlier, he said around 100 stations had not opened on time "for security reasons".

The commission pushed back closing times for those stations affected until 1800 GMT.
