Three non-resident Indians and a Nottingham-based organisation have been honoured by the Indian High Commission here for their outstanding work in promoting Hindi in the United Kingdom. High commissioner Jaimini
Bhagwati presented them shields, shawls and citations in connection with World Hindi Day 2013 on Tuesday. The awardees are: Mahendra Kishore Verma of York University; Krishna Kumar, chairman of Gitanjali Multilingual Literary Circle in Birmingham; internationally renowned blogger Kavita Vachaknavi and Kavya Rang, a Global Association of Poets, Writers in Nottingham. Edible hotel made of cake opens for 1 night in London
London: The world’s first hotel made entirely of cake has opened its gates to guests forhttp://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2013/3/21_03_13-metro16.jpg one night.

The edible hotel within a hotel in Soho in central London used 600kg of sugar to build and was created by more than 14 artists who spent 2,000 hours baking and 900 hours in decorating.

The hotel has vanilla sponge cushions, windows and walls clad with 2,000 macaroons, a hand-stitched rug made from 1,081 meringues, 20kg of marshmallow garlands, windowsills built from fudge and a bath filled with caramel-coated popcorn.ANI

‘Praying’ all US can do in case of meteor strike
 Washington: Nasa administrator Charles Bolden Jr has said ‘praying’ is the only option the US would have if a meteor similar to the one that hit in Russia on February 15 was found to be on a path toward New York City, with impact three weeks away.

The meteor was estimated to be around 55 feet long.

Donald Yeomans, manager of Nasa’s Near-Earth Object Program Office and the author of “Near-Earth Objects: Finding Them Before They Find Us”, said there are a lot of small meteors in orbit, and little early warning system in place to detect them. ANI
