At least 10 people have been killed in riots in central Myanmar, a local MP said on Thursday, in the country's worst communal violence since Buddhist-Muslim clashes in western Rakhine state last year.
"More than 10 people were killed," Win Htein, a member of the opposition
National League for Democracy (NLD), said over telephone from the town of Meiktila, adding that he had seen their dead bodies.
A local resident also reported seeing more than 10 dead bodies.
