20 militants killed in Pak clashes

Twenty militants and a solider were killed in clashes in Pakistan's Bajaur tribal region while a dozen suspected militants were captured during operations across the country's northwest, authorities said on Monday. Security forces and Taliban fighters fought fierce gun battles in Sewai,
Damadola, Chiangai, Shinkot and Kharkai areas of Bajaur Agency during the past 24 hours.

Twenty militants and a soldier were killed while 11 other security personnel were injured in the clashes, the Frontier Corps said in a statement.

Troops also apprehended three suspected militants and took control of Sewai, a key Taliban base that was captured after intense shelling and air strikes by jets and gunship helicopters.

Security forces carried out search operations at several places in Swat and apprehended seven suspects with arms and ammunition.

Three suspected militants also surrendered at Langar and Maniari in the same region the military said.

One militant was captured during an operation at Sarai Naurang in Jandola sector of Waziristan.

Another suspect was captured during a search at Khajuri in Razmak sector. (MORE)
