Over 3,000 artefacts and 21 graves dating back to the Bronze Age (1,800-1,700 BC) have been discovered in Syria, media reports said. Artefacts from the Roman era (510 BC-476 AD) were also found Saturday by researchers of Damascus University, who worked in cooperation with the Directorate
of Antiquities and Museums in Daraa governorate, 101 km from Damascus, Xinhua reported citing a statement published Sunday in Syrian daily Al-Watan.

The unearthed artefacts include clay pots, jars, swords, amulets and necklaces and date back to the Bronze Mid-Age (1,800-1,700 BC) and the Roman era (510 BC-476 AD), head of the expedition Qasem Mohammad was quoted as saying.

The discoveries show the region was an important cultural centre in the ancient age and a notable connection point amongst ancient civilizations, he said.
