A 29 year-old Indian woman suffering from swine flu died in Singapore on Sunday, becoming the sixth victim of the dreaded disease in two weeks in the country, according to media reports. The report carried by The Strait Times on its website however did not give any further
details about the patient.

The woman had no underlying medical conditions other than being obese. All five others who have so far died had pre-existing illnesses or chronic conditions, the newspaper reported.

The woman, who had been reportedly suffering from flu-like symptoms for the last four days, was admitted to Changi General Hospital' emergency department on July 25 after becoming unconscious.

She was later moved into intensive care the next day where she later died. The cause of death has been identified as pneumonia and renal failure, with H1N1 infection as a contributing factor.

Flu experts from the United States have noted that overweight patients, especially severely obese ones, are likely to have respiratory complications that are harder to treat and could be fatal.
