Special prayers offered by devotees at Pashupatinath Temple have witnessed a remarkable increase since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit earlier this month.

During his Nepal trip, Modi took part in special prayers at the Lord Shiva shrine and made an offering of 2,500 kilos of sandalwood — used to anoint the deity.

“Number of people performing special prayers has increased as Hindus across the world received more information about Pashupatinath after different channels broadcasted the special worship of the Indian PM,” Govinda Tandon, a member-secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust, told Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

The number of Indian devotees taking part in special prayers has also increased manifold. Telugu superstar and former minister Chiranjeevi and actor Anupam Kher also performed special prayers at the shrine this month.
