It seems ladies can bare all in honour of their husbands -- yes, a group of military wives in Britain has posed naked for a charity calendar to raise money for the injured and mentally scarred service personnel.
Called 'The Garrison Girls', the wives of men from all three armed services in Britain have appeared nude in a series of black and white photos, posing with flags and various items of military uniform, in the calendar priced at ten pounds.
The women, who are all aged between 19 and 40 and have no previous modelling experience, hope to raise 60,000 pounds for the charity Help for Heroes and Combat Stress, the British media reported.
In fact, this is the second calendar they've released and shooting is already under way for the 2011 edition.
The calendar's campaign organiser, 32-year-old Sarah Bennett Thurston, whose husband Paul serves in the Army, said the models, who have 32 children between them, were inspired by their husbands' bravery.
"I just wanted to do something positive as a military wife. It can be very very hard. It is hell waiting for the phone to ring. So there is a really strong bond of camaraderie between women involved in the military.
"The main thing is that the Garrison Girls represent all services, all ranks, all units. We're all in this. Having the photos taken was bizarre everyone was nervous but you just get into it and it's really exciting," the mom of three said.
Photographer Mick Payton, who has done all the shots for free, said the women worked professionally and discovered their modelling skills in front of the camera. "Many of them were really nervous at first but when they saw how the pics had come out they became more and more confident."
