A Nepalese member of a mountaineering expedition was killed and a British climber injured in an avalanche on Nepal’s Mount Ama Dablam triggered by an earthquake on Monday.

Janak Thapa of Himalayan Guides, which had organised the expedition, told Hindustan Times that Lakpa Thindhu Sherpa was killed by the avalanche. He identified the injured Briton as Ciaran Hill.

“The injured British mountaineer has been airlifted to Kathmandu and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital,” he said.
